When the moon broke and the toxic ocean waters rose, humans nearly went extinct. Among the last of a few small tribes, Korbin and his son are trying to make a living in a simple fishing village on the newly created Nebraska coastline. But food is running low, and a local gang of violent cannibals led by a madman named Lorren are making their existence difficult.

When a group of solemn gill men arrive at the edge of the village, no one is sure what to think — until the leader, To’klace, begins to speak. He has a story to tell about the history of the oceans and a group of godlike creatures he calls the Old Ones…
